Choosing First Date Ideas In Your Local Area For Online Dating

Friday, October 3rd, 2008

If you have tried the wonderfully varied world of online dating recently then you may have met someone whom you email and speak to online on a regular basis. You may have even talked about meeting up in person in the near future to get to know each other a little better. If this is the case and you do want to take online dating that one step further then you will need to choose from the many possible first date ideas available to you.

Going from solely online dating to meeting up is a big step and you both need to be sure that you are ready to meet up. If you are then you need to talk and find something that fits all of the first date ideas criteria below:

  • It should be something that interests you both.
  • It should be in a convenient location that it is easy for both of you to get to.
  • It should be in a safe and public place so that there are others around if your date does not turn out how you expect.
  • It should be something that will put you both at ease to minimise awkward silences.

If you have first date ideas that meet all of the criteria then you are doing well but for the majority of people it is not that easy if you have met via online dating. You will need to talk about your interests because you may like animals and want to go to the zoo whereas your date may hate them and be allergic to chimps! This may sound a bit far fetched and highly unlikely but it does highlight the fact that you just never know and should not assume that your date may go along with what you want to do.

Safety is also a big factor when it comes to that first date off the back of online dating. You should never be completely alone with any individual that you are dating but have never met before and should try and find an alternative. For example, a picnic in the woods is a big no-no but a picnic in a busy public park in the middle of the day is fine. Always try to make your date a day or early evening one in a public place because you just never know, no matter how long you have been speaking to someone via online dating. It is far better to be safe than sorry!

Falling In Love Via Online Dating… And How To Make It Last!

Thursday, July 3rd, 2008

Online dating is one of the biggest matchmakers in the world at minute. People from all over the world are logging on to the World Wide Web in the hope of finding love. Email after email is sent every single day from a person that believes his or her true love is on the other end of an email account. These messages zip backwards and forwards as people get to know one another, but can true love really spring from online dating? And if it does, can it really stand the test of time?

Many people fall intensely in love via Internet chat rooms and emails every day and tend to fall a lot quicker for someone than they would had they met the recipient at a club, in a bar or through work. This is because it is easier to fantasize if you have an image of someone in your head rather than one that was based on truth. Online dating is notorious for this because dreaming about love keeps many people alive, and the dream version of love is often a lot more idealistic than realistic.

However, when you do actually get to meet up with someone that you met via online dating, you may find that things are moving along quickly, a little too quickly. The best way to make a relationship that began online last is to take it slowly when you finally do meet the person in question. You may already be in love with them but there is a world of difference between an email and a real life date. Simply stick to the information that you have exchanged over the Internet for the first date.

Go to dinner or attend a festival. It should be something that gives you chance to talk but with many other people around. There is a safety aspect to this too but the main thing is that you simply go over the ground you have already covered but face to face. By taking it slowly, you get the chance to formulate a real life opinion about that person as well as living the fantasy in a certain way. It makes the transition from online dating to real life dating that bit easier.

The next step away from online dating towards true love is doing what any other person would do after meeting someone the conventional way – go on one or two dates a week for the first few weeks and then slowly increase the amount of time you are spending with each other. Meanwhile, you should carry on living your normal life. The main reason why online dating relationships fail is because it consumes people and fails to live up to expectations. The second reason is because the relationships often move to fast. You can avoid both of these problems by following the advice above as well as finding love!

The Birds and the …..

Tuesday, July 1st, 2008

I remember when I was 15 years old and had a huge crush on Emma, a girl who lived near me. She would save me a seat on the school bus every day and I would sing to her all the way to school. (The song was falling in Love again.)

Our friendship was strong since we grew up together from primary school and now into high school. I can remember to this day (more than four decades later) the way she looked and talked. I remember always wanting to kiss her very large, very full lips that she always kept painted perfectly. (She never knew I wanted to kiss, and I don’t think she felt the same way.)
