Choosing first date ideas is never easy, especially when you happen to live in a town or city that is known solely for its tourism, especially when that town happens to be Blackpool. Blackpool is viewed as a tourist’s paradise but what about the things you can do on a date? You probably think there aren’t many at all beyond the usual dinner and a movie but there are. - Illuminations – The Blackpool Illuminations draw people from all over the country in the autumn and winter but they actually provide excellent first dates if you take the time to find out. The lights might seem tacky to some but bundling up against the cold and looking at them can actually be quite romantic.
- The Pleasure Beach – It isn’t called that for nothing! The rides and attractions at the Pleasure Beach are fantastic and can provide you with a whole lot of laughs. As such, you can have a great time there on a first date.
- Blackpool Tower – Blackpool Tower is awesome as a first date idea. Not only can you go to the top and look out over the world but you can also go to see the circus or one of the shows that are held there every once in a while. For first date ideas, this one is pretty cool!

Cambridge, along with Oxford, is one of the most historical cities in the UK and has a great tradition that encourages tourists to visit in their millions, but it isn’t a great place for first dates. Well, at least it isn’t if you don’t have an imagination. If you think about it, there is no better place to cultivate great first date ideas. With plenty to see, do, hear and experience, you couldn’t pick a better place for a first date. All it takes is a little creativity and it’ll be the most memorable first date of your life!
The three ideas below are good to get you started. All of them are fantastic first date ideas and should give you a few more:
- Visit Rosie – Rosie is a narrow boat that offers river trips on the Cam. The scenery is fantastic and it can be a wonderfully romantic journey at any time of year. It’s not actually too expensive either, but it is definitely different.
- Visit Ghouls – There are plenty of ghost tours around Cambridge so it is fantastic if you are trying to come up with different first date ideas. You can choose one that would appeal to both you and your date. It’ll definitely make it memorable if nothing else.
- Visit The Pictures – This might sound like an old generic first date idea but the Arts Picture House & Café Bar is different. It screens more artsy stuff that might be of interest to you. It’ll be more memorable and the atmosphere is fantastic. Much better than visiting the local Cineworld!

If you live in Derby then you might not think that there’s anything special about your city. You might find yourself bored from time to time, but we all know that we don’t appreciate the area that we live in until we leave it. Nottingham is a wonderful city, especially if you need first date ideas. There’s plenty to do and plenty to see, and yet many couples still choose to go see a film or go for dinner without exploring it. Let’s face it, a movie and dinner is OK but it hardly makes for a memorable date unless you spill wine all over your date’s lap! Oxford is the capital of English culture and heritage. Tourists flock to it every year to see the sights of the city and the surrounding area, and with good reason… but what good is that reason to you if you can’t come up with some good first date ideas when you want to impress a potential boyfriend or girlfriend? The short answer is that you have absolutely no excuse not to come up with something creative and interesting in Oxford, but just to get you started here are some awesome first date ideas:

When it comes to vibrant cities in the UK, Edinburgh has to be up there with the best of them. The Scottish capital is a wonderful city for tourists with plenty to see and do but what about the natives? When you are trying to decide upon first date ideas for you and that special person, there are many different places you could visit and things that you could do.

Living in Birmingham might not be everyone’s cup of tea but there are definitely worse places to live and date in the UK! There are plenty of eligible lads and lasses there if you happen to be on the dating scene at the moment. In fact, dating in Birmingham can be a lot of fun if you make the most of the city.
