Awesome First Date Ideas For Swansea
Friday, October 3rd, 2008
It never fails to amaze me how many people have so many attractions and activities at their disposal and yet still settle for boring first dates. They don’t make it easy for themselves because in a restaurant or café there is often very little to talk about, especially if both of them are nervous. However, choosing one of the active first date ideas available to you can really get your potential relationship off to a great start.
Swansea is one of the major Welsh cities and if you live there then you have no idea how many perfect first date ideas you have at your fingertips. There are plenty available to take your first date away from the dinner and a movie cliché! Some of the first date ideas below will give you a good idea of exactly what you could do with your first date:
- Go Shopping – Normally men don’t like shopping but this is a different experience. Why not go to the largest indoor market in Wales. You can take a look around the stalls and taste some of the traditional Welsh foods like layerbread and fresh cockles. It definitely gives you a little something different!
- Pick Up Your Board – The Gower Peninsular is fantastic for first date ideas that are a little more active. You can go for organised nature walks because it’s a designated Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty, surfing, swimming… It certainly gives you a little inspiration!
- Take In A Little Culture – The Swansea Grand Theatre is also a fantastic first date idea because it literally has it all. There are 500 plus performances there every year from all areas of the arts spectrum. Comedian Jimmy Carr, singer Hayley Westenra and the opera La Boheme are just some of the performances taking place between now and the end of the year so check it out!
Tips For Setting Up That First Date
Tuesday, July 1st, 2008When it comes to the time to plan your first date out, whether you met your date via online dating or via traditional dating methods, there are so many things that we all tend to overanalyse and also so many things that could go wrong. The problem with that is that it could actually end a potentially beautiful relationship before it actually begins.
So how could you avoid that? Well, for starters don’t wait for the other person to say where they want to go. Take the initiative and throw some suggestions out there. You might not want to do the same things but at least you’ll find something that suits you both. Long gone are the days where the man made all of the decisions so take an equal share in it! Also, try somewhere with a nice warm atmosphere so it puts you both at ease. This excludes restaurants.
Try not to go to a restaurant with someone for a first date unless you’ve known them for a while or have done something together just beforehand so you have a share experience to talk about. They throw up more obstacles than enough. The atmosphere can be stifling, the silences awkward and then there’s the question of who pays. Try to avoid anywhere that this might become an issue. The cinema might sound like a cliché but at least one of you could pay for the tickets and the other for the popcorn!
Is Online Dating The Only Way To Meet People?
Tuesday, July 1st, 2008I saw an article in a magazine towards the end of last week that declared that the only way to date these days in via a website. It’s true that online dating is big business but is it really the only way to date?
The reasons given were that it’s far easier to meet someone online than it is by going to a bar or asking someone out if you work them. I totally agree with that. It’s definitely easier to meet someone online. If you choose online dating you can read their profile, read between the lines and figure out what you think they’re like, talk to them in chat rooms and generally get to know them before you agree to a date. In effect, you’ll know whether you like them in advance. Whether or not you get that spark or not is a different matter, but it’s hardly a blind date
If you want a simple life and don’t want to be left wondering whether you’ll be left on the shelf then online dating is probably the answer, but then going to bars can also be fun so you’ve got to make up your own mind! You can always dance the night away if there’s nobody you fancy there!
Out And About: Dating In London
Tuesday, July 1st, 2008London is not only the capital of the UK, but it is the UK capital of dating. With easily the highest population in England and probably the highest number of single people as well (although don’t quote me on that). As such, it should be difficult to come up with first date ideas. It shouldn’t, but it must be because everyone always settles for the usual dinner and/or a movie. The usual kind of dates suck if you could be a bit more imaginative, and now you can with the first date ideas below:
- The Theatre – Nowhere in England could you possibly find so many theatres within such a short distance of each other so it shouldn’t be too hard to find a play or musical that you both might like. This might seem like a third, fourth or fifth date, but it could be a lot of fun and give you something to talk about.
- A Museum – Again, there are plenty to choose from, and what first date ideas would be more sociable? In a museum, you have each other’s full attention and can talk about the exhibits as you wander round. If you don’t like your date then the great thing is you can always lose them!
- Hyde Park – A picnic in the park is casual and related so it’s nothing like heading to a restaurant. If the weather’s lovely then you can have a fab day sprawled on a blanket, in the fully clothes sense of the words!
Whatever you do for first date ideas though, avoid the London Eye – trapped in a pod with a bad date for a few hours = the date from hell!
Get Your UK Dating Kicks With Great First Date Ideas!
Tuesday, July 1st, 2008UK dating is a massive industry today and there are plenty of ways you can find a date. You could go to a bar and get talking to someone you like, meet someone online through a chat room, or even find profiles of potential matches on a UK dating website. However, it’s not meeting people that poses a problem. You have access to thousands of single people during the course of a week. No, it is agreeing on a great first date that is the problem, even if you do have a few first date ideas.
Everyone goes for dinner and a movie at some time or another. Not only is this date boring, it will hardly set your world alight. It is far from the memorable first date ideas that people look for, and you do spend half of your time in a darkened room with fifty other people not talking. UK dating can do a lot better than that! Take a look below for a few excellent ideas for a first date.
1. A Picnic – If you do want to go for good old traditional UK dating then try putting a new spin on it. A blanket, good food and a sunny day are all you need for a good old picnic! Picnics are better first date ideas because they’re daytime events so you don’t have to spend hours on a bad date and it’s easier to talk with beautiful scenery and the tranquillity it brings.
2. A Festival – A festival of art, music or drama can provide any UK dating couple with more than enough to do and talk about. People never choose something like this for a first date, but it can be fun and can help you to figure out whether you like each other and have enough in common for a second date.
3. A Funfair or Theme Park – Get back to your childhood and go to a theme park for the day, or a few hours if you have yet to talk properly to the person. If you have tapped into UK dating online then you may well have spoken to your date for a few hours. You will certainly have fun and remember the date for some time to come.
Any first date ideas you have that are similar to those above would also be great for you. The idea is to have fun so think outside the box!
Fancy Dinner And A Movie?
Tuesday, July 1st, 2008Have you ever been on one of those dates that seemed to last forever because you and your date had absolutely nothing to talk about? The time is filled with awkward silences, counting down the minutes and bathroom breaks until you get home and swear that you’ll never, ever go on a date again. UK dating is a minefield but there are ways and means around it. Believe it or not, you can go on the same date and have a much better time if you take this tip on board.
Here’s a quick dating tip for you – don’t do dinner and a movie, but a movie and dinner. Yes, I know it’s the same thing but if you switch the order in which you do it then you’ll find UK dating a lot more enjoyable. If you go to dinner first then you might find that you have nothing in common at all and have the allergic reaction to UK dating as outlined above. If you go to the movie first then at least you can go straight to the restaurant afterwards and talk about it! So what if you thought it was rubbish? Hopefully your date won’t have done so you can really get to know each other over a good debate, a tasty dinner and a bottle of wine!
